What are Luxury Vinyl Tiles ( LVT)?
If you are looking to replace your existing flooring in your home, rental or commercial property with something that imitates the look of real wood but requires less maintenance and is more durable for high traffic areas then Luxury Vinyl is an excellent choice. Luxury Vinyl has a rigid core which makes it exceptionally superior than sheet vinyl.
Luxury Vinyl is extremely versatile and can be used in areas that may experience damp or moisture. Such as a bathroom or a kitchen. Luxury Vinyl Tiles can also be perfect for families with pets due to a strong scratch resistant top layer and the ability to clean up those oops moments.
LVT stands for Luxury Vinyl Tile which is more of a square shape and generally mimics the look of stone which boasts of a lifelike texture to stone and it can even be installed using grout. LVP stands for Luxury Vinyl Planks which are essentially a longer rectangle shape and usually mimics the look of wood, this also has a very realistic texture to wood. Here at coast carpets we supply and fit both, and due to LVT being a more recognised term we refer to both as LVT.
One has a click mechanism which means the tiles and planks can be clicked together on installation, the other type is laid using glue to hold it in place to the subfloor, this type performs very well in all areas of your home. Glued stick down LVT requires a flat, even subfloor, therefore, preparation may be required before installation.
Click LVT can be laid on several different types of sub-floor and is slightly thicker, you may wish to consider this if you are considering underfloor heating, (please note it is always important to consult the manufacturer when assessing the suitability for underfloor heating.
Solid wood, Engineered wood and Laminate are often not suitable for kitchens and areas of moisture and humidity due to the high probability of swelling. Luxury Vinyl supersedes all other types of flooring due to its advanced protective coating layer.
LVT is also an excellent option for areas with a lot of sunlight, due to its protective layer it will not fade overtime.
